Debuted my Ariadne act as part of the Baroque and BeaTEAful Cabaret’s retelling of Sleeping Beauty. Ariadne, daughter of the Greek king Minos, helped Theseus defeat the Minotaur with a thread of glittering jewels. She fell in love with him, but he abandoned her on a deserted island. While she was sleeping, the god Dionysus came upon her and immediately fell in love. She then discovered the joys of pure love and pleasure…and lived happily ever after.

Many thanks to @brickcityglam for putting together this extraordinary event and inviting me to participate. I loved bringing together my three favorite things: aerial dance, burlesque, and mythology. Creating this act was a unique opportunity to tell a story with costume and dance. I’m super pleased with the costume which was largely handmade. (Swipe to see my inspiration, the painting Bacchus and Ariadne by Guido Reni.)

And I’m proud of myself for breaking out of my comfort zone and exploring new movements on #lollipoplyra (thanks @colleen.in.motion for hooking me up!)
